Day 3

We woke up early even before daylight and started packing the equipment as we had to meet the instructors at the river by 9am.

Then my group had a quick re-lesson on white water confidence and kayaking.

we then had to kayak back to the main camp, so my partner and i kayaked all the way back. the whole group worked as an actual group because we all kept close together while kayaked.

Finally we washed our equipment, packed it away and answered an evaluation sheet for OBBD. We then waited for the bus to take us back to the port. Back to the normal way of living with normal people.

we were all so happy that we were returning back to brunei that we didnt say a word on the boat trip back. unfortunately it was also raining on the trip back.

Day 2

In the morning, after the fire drill call.. we had to go to do the flag raising thing as respect for the people that live around the Temburong area.

With an energizing breakfast and a small briefing we started to trek. For nine gruelling hours we treaded through the jungle, at first it was not so bad as we had food in our stomach and energy but about a quarter of the way we started to take frequent breaks after every ascend making us behind schedule.

during the trek, we had to keep finding places where we could refill our bottles of water and we each helped each other, mentally,

we kept on trekking through the jungle and in the middle of the jungle we came to a point where we saw the jungle all gone, just a road that they were contructing through the jungle. This road actually helped us with our journey and speeded the journey up. We would have reached camp sooner. but one student fell and injured her ankle

we all helped to carry her down to the river where a boat picked her up and gave her a lift back the the main OBBD camp, where she took refuge from the horrors of the jungle.

After our dramatic rescue we headed towards the camp site yet again, and this was the hard part. We all had to climb a near vertical hill that was like 70 degrees upwards, I actually had to go up and down several time as to carry the bags and help people. this was a real challenge, but from the challenge i found out that i could actually help people. we also all worked as a team which i thought was the best part.

when we reached our camping spot it was raining dogs, so we all had to quickly set up the tents and dry the tents up by using towels to absorb the water and then later on pour the water somewhere else. After we set up the tent i had to go to the river which was about 300 killometres away from the camp to go and purify some water, for drinking purposes.
I thought it would be easy, even dismissing the fact that my friend told me it was tiring and heavy, he was right.

During the trip i also kept on slipping many times down steep hills etc. the river was close so at about 6pm the boys decided to go down to the river to change clothes and have a quick wash.

THE TEMBURONG TRIP!

The Red title to express the amount of pain and sleepless nights that i had experienced from the trip.

Day 1

There we all were! All waiting at the Brunei Jetty at 6am, we all were so exited and wanted to leave the jetty and reach Temburong straight away. A calm, easy, relaxing trip we thought at first as the bright sun shown over out heads and smiles that painted our faces clearly showed all the enthusiasm and excitement from all of us. After the wonderful previous Temburong trip that most of us had in year six we thought that this trip was going to be way better.

The first day at OBBD was to prepare us for the jungle trek that we all had to experience the next day. The whole year was split up into 3 teams we were acquainted with our supervisor and each other by doing creative exercises.

We did trusting exercises for example falling off a platform. From these exercises we each all built self trust in each other. Afterwards we were able to try the flying fox exercise, from this I found out that I am quite the risk taker flying over a river!

Later the day, we went to the storage room to acquire our survival apparatus, where we all worked together as a team efficiently and effective.
After we were shown our accommodations we went to do white water confidence, at first I thought it would be fun, however the water was very cold. From these water excercises we each built team trust because we each had faith in one another.

We then had dinner and played a few more team building activities, making our team mascot and packing our bags for the trek. When night fell we thought we could all get a good nights rest, unfortunately the staff had decided to run a fire drill at 5am.

the girls woke up to the non-stop annoying "fire fire fire" that repeatedly went on for at least 20 minutes. the boys then woke up about 20 minutes when a fellow member decided to turn the lights on and wake us all up :(.
